everything was so cold
     so dark
          so frightening

     in the darkness

i saw your hand
     in the light

i grasped it

i left the darkness

i banished my sorrow
     my doubts
          my fears

i entered the sunlight

i bask in the warmth
          the tenderness
               the love

i feel protected
     wanted
          secure

i found someone
     who cares about me
          whom i care about

knowing
     forever
