freedom
 
the sun is warm upon my skin
the joy bubbling up from within
listening to the sounds about
reveling in the peace without

closing my eyes and feeling the bliss
of safety and love that i seemed to miss
swaying to the sounds of life
no stress or tension or any strife

today is a day just for me
to do as i want, to do as i please
to laugh and dance and play and sing
to do just about everything

to spend it with those that really care
to be a part to open and share
the part of me deep inside
that i seem, too often, to try to hide
 
to look above and see the sky
to dream and hope and wonder why
to walk lightly and be totally free
to be able, finally, to just be me
