This project was my first official paid eCommerce project and I am very pleased with how everything turned out and that the client is happy with their new website. I wish them much success in their sales. It is also quite possible that we will be working again in the near future on another eCommerce site that will have t-shirts with a children’s theme. I will keep everyone posted if/when we start this next project.

While I was visiting one of the design blogs that I follow, I learned of a website called Social Follow ( http://SocialFollow.com ). SocialFollow.com is designed to allow people who belong to a wide assortment of Social Networking sites to create one button for our site visitors to click on and follow us, rather than creating a separate button for each site and taking up valuable website space. Below is an excerpt from the article…

Social Follow is a cool new web application that combines all of your other social networking and social bookmarking profiles. I’m sure we all have accounts on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Digg, and many other profiles around the net. With SocialFollow, you are able to combine all of these profiles into one handy button. These are great for posting to your blog, sharing in your forum sigs, or posting it anywhere around the web! If you would like to read the rest of the article visit Insidetheweb.com

I have joined SocialFollow.com and found it easy to register and set up your profile. Before registering I recommend that you gather all of your social network URL’s so you can paste them into Social Follow when you create your button. After you input all of these sites, Social Follow will then create the code you need and you just copy and paste it into your website. They even have a plug-in option for Wordpress users to place the button on Wordpress blogs. However, I have discovered that since I am using the newest version of Wordpress, it appears that the plug-in won’t work as of yet. Hopefully the SocialFollow developers will update their information for that real soon.

Most of us have jumped on the social media bandwagon and use different aspects of it in our daily lives. One of the great things about social media is that it has a different use for everyone. You may use it as a break from your work, to connect with old friends, and to meet new people. And if you are in business for yourself, networking and finding new business is always a peripheral use of social media, even if you don’t focus on that exclusively.

Blogs, Twitter and Facebook are three elements of social media where you can tailor your approach to find new clients and other business opportunities. Read the rest of this article … http://bit.ly/sFWUb

For those of you out there that are trying to decide whether or not to redo your websites, here’s an article that might help you decide which direction to take. This is a good article that discusses how giving your current website an overhaul can breath new life into your business presence both online and off.

Ramp up Your Redesign

Make your website’s overhaul an event that attracts traffic–and customers.

http://www.entrepreneur.com/ebusiness/buildingawebsite/article202458.html#ixzz0LLBiG1QR&D

“… I decided to turn the website into a world-class site, to make the internet the center of the business and to really focus on social networking to attract people from around the world to the site. That, I believe, is what is going to put me ahead of the competition when things do turn around. Plus, I’ll have a really strong social network and a world-class web site.” Kevin Saunders, KGS Bikes

Whyte Tyger Design & Consulting has been a proud sponsor of the South Salem Little League and District 7 Little League for the 2nd year in a row. I have donated many hours of website updates and recently donated my design skills for the District 7 All Star tournament book. Through my work for these 2 organizations, I have received some referrals for other Little League projects that I am proud to spend my time working on. These next 2 projects are for the Oregon State Major Softball Tournament book (hosted by South Salem LL & District 7) and for the Regional Major Softball Tournament book (hosted by Fort Vancouver LL).

As a young girl I played Little League softball in the Brush Prairie Little League and both of my boys are currently playing little league baseball. My oldest plays in the Major Division and is representing South Salem LL in the 11-12 All Star Tournament and my youngest played in the AA division (8-9 yr olds). After the All Star season, we will have a short break then will be starting up the Fall Ball season with my 12 yr old moving up into the Junior division (13-14 yr olds) and my 8 yr old will be playing in the AAA division (8-10 yr olds). It is exciting to watch my boys play and grow up in Little League. I plan to support little league for many years to come.

We’re all well aware of the many web tools that exist to help us make ourselves more social, efficient, effective, etc — Facebook being one of the many. Some of us use so many that managing the tools themselves often requires another utility. It’s becoming increasingly complicated, and as a solution, Inside Facebook recently discussed syncing Twitter and Facebook status updates for all those who want to sync their updates on both sites.
